Arizona Unemployment Website
The
Arizona Unemployment Website provides helpful information for those who
have recently lost their jobs. Unemployment Insurance (UI) is designed
to help workers bridge the monetary gap that may result when they are
between jobs for reasons beyond their control. Applicants must meet two
standards to be eligible for benefits: they must have been employed by
an Arizona company which is legally compelled to participate in the
unemployment program; the reason(s) for having left work and the ability
to work will also be considered. Visiting the Arizona Unemployment
Website will give displaced workers information about the criteria for
meeting these standards as well as how to apply for benefits. Workers
should apply for unemployment within the first week after they separate
from their company.
Benefits may be applied for either by phone or online via the Arizona
Unemployment Website. To apply for unemployment benefits by phone dial
602-364-2722 if calling from the area surrounding Phoenix. Dial
520-791-2722 if calling from the area surrounding Tucson. All other
callers should dial the toll free phone number 1-877-600-2722, or
1-877-877-6226 for those who are deaf or hearing impaired. Phone
applications are taken on Mondays for those whose social security
numbers end in 0, 1, 2, or 3, and on Tuesdays for those whose social
security numbers end in 4, 5, 6, or 7. All applicants, regardless of
their social security numbers, may apply on Wednesday, Thursday, and
Friday.

Applicants should have the following information available whether they apply by telephone or online: social security number or Alien Registration Number; mailing address and county of residence; contact information for all jobs held during the last 18 months, and the date last worked on the job held just before applying for benefits. The date and amount of any severance pay, as well as information about any other benefits received, will be required.
